Mr. Miguel Toquica is a Disaster Risk Management Specialist with an Engineering background. He has 10 years of experience working as a consultant in several international organizations and private companies. He possesses experience in the sustainable development sector in West Africa and Latin America where he has supported projects with advanced level expertise in the field of flooding (riverine and coastal flooding), integrated coastal zone management, and earthquake risk assessment. he has led several tasks such as multi-hazard risk assessment, coastal sediment budget transportation, socio-vulnerability assessments, and data and information sharing systems. He has provided strategic assistance to client implementation disaster risk management and environmental projects in West Africa and Latin America where he provides technical expertise in data usage, information sharing systems, geo-spatial analysis, and monitoring techniques of natural hazards and climate risk to mainstream disaster risk information into decision making and policies. Miguel holds a Masters degree in Disaster Risk Management from the Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pavia in Italy, and an engineering diploma from the University of Texas PanAm in the United States.
